shipley park In a partnership with WCS Development and East of the River Community Development Corporation, 250 units of rental housing were substantially renovated in 2007 with all residents remaining on the property throughout construction. Kitchens and bathrooms were gutted and replaced, and hardwood floors were refinished. New windows and energy-efficient HVAC systems were installed. The grounds were professionally landscaped, and exterior lighting and decorative wrought iron fencing were installed. The $25 million renovation included $3.8 million in acquisition financing from the DC Department of Housing and Community Development and LIHTC and tax-exempt bond financing from the DC Housing Finance Agency. Shipley Park is within walking distance of the Southern Avenue Metro station.
