Splash park The Villages of Parklands SplashPark is a state-of-the-art interactive water park – the only of its kind in Washington, DC. It was built to replace an outdated pool in the community, and 48 apartment units were razed to create the space required. The SplashPark is a family destination and neighborhood gathering site. It is extensively landscaped, secured with attractive wrought iron fencing, and surrounded by tables and umbrellas. Ice cream, beverages, and light meals can be purchased at the snack bar, where a debit card system has been put into place so it is not necessary for children to bring cash to the water park. The SplashPark is used for birthday parties, family reunions, and field trips for church and school groups. Lifeguards and operational staff for the pool are hired from within the community.
